Learning & Curriculum

Learning & Curriculum

At Ramsden Hall Academy we care for each individual student helping them to achieve their potential. We want students to feel happy and secure and share with us their success.

Our students are aged between 10 – 16 and many of our students have a variety of complex and diagnosed needs that have made it difficult for them to progress against their mainstream peers. All our students have an Educational Health Care plan (EHC) for Social, Emotional or Mental Health

We have a clear code of conduct that allows everyone to achieve

  • We look after our school
  • We keep each other safe
  • We help each other learn

Staff are aware of opportunities across the curriculum for social, emotional and behavioural development using a whole school therapeutic approach and are aware of how the curriculum can be differentiated for children and young people with SEMH and therefore differentiate appropriately.

We teach our students in a more stage not age set up with class sizes of approximately 8 students allowing those students in years 6 – 8 to benefit from our nurture base within our ready to learn area and our students in years 9 – 11 to access a variety of GCSE and vocational subjects as they would do in any mainstream setting.

Every pupil and staff member at Ramsden Hall Academy is assigned a house. The House system is a long standing tradition that creates competition, promotes good work and behaviour, encourages teamwork, provides opportunities to take on responsibilities and brings everyone in the school together. Within these houses each student is assigned a Tutor group and given a Tutor. The Tutor group consists of students from every year group and up to three members of staff and will further create a sense of security, wellbeing and belonging.

The Form Tutor will get to know their students closely and will get to know each student as an individual. They will be the first point of contact for referral or praise, will monitor progress inside and outside of the classroom and offer support, guidance and direction when needed.

If you are reading this as a prospective student we look forward to meeting you at Ramsden Hall Academy.
