Attendance regulations make it clear that parents do not have the right or any entitlement to take a child out of school for the purpose of a term-time holiday. (The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006).

The request for leave must come from the parent/carer whom the student normally resides with.

Ramsden Hall Academy will only agree to absence for a family holiday if we believe there are special circumstances which warrant it. Parents are required to submit a form which can be found below.

Request for Special Leave during Term Time

Good attendance is a vital component of overall achievement. A student with 90% attendance has missed on average 1 day per fortnight or 4 weeks over a year.

WARNING: If a holiday is taken during term time without the headteachers permission, the headteacher may request the Local Authority to issue a Penalty Notice. The Penalty Notice is £60 per parent for each child if paid within 21 days of receipt of the notice. If paid after the 21 days the notice then rises to £120 per parent for each child.
